The artists will transcend physicality and come together through the interconnectedness of ther sound pieces, creating a tightly knit web and giving a semblance of order to the random flow of sounds. Each track will be a reflection on the current overexposure to stimuli amplified by the reliance on new technologies. The project will act as a statement againt subjection to those stimuli and as an endeavor to transform the daily cacophony into an aesthetic experience.
Turning to music to express their emotions and to render life more intelligible comes naturally to these musicians with multiple influences.
For Dawan whose real name is Hamza Nasraoui, music is one of the doors that lead to an infinite world of possibilities and connect to the remotest and deepest parts of the inner worlds.Music for this loner is more than an artistic and creative practice, it is the manifestation of consciousness and a way to transcend the limits of reality. Dawan started his musical career playing deep house and hardcore techno under the name SixHon. He then migrated to denser and more layered tones and sonorities. His music is soft, melancholic, defiantly romantic and bordering on the dark realms; it is also deeply influenced by future garage and the likes of Burial and Four Tet. Hamza was part of the “Ephemere Festival” experience during its three editions, in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He travelled all the way to Helsinki, Finland, in 2015, to attend the Laboratory of Hearing, an artistic residence that allowed him to meet people sharing his passion, to develop his craft and perform in front of a different audience. He also participated in an artistic residency in Tunisia, worked on an award-winning film as a sound engineer before releasing a vinyl with the American Label “Soiree Record international, Detroit”. Hamza loves spending a lot of time in the studio alone but doesn’t mind getting out of his bubble to collaborate with other artists, thus he performed with the duo Yuma at the Sicca Jazz festival and released the track “41” on Mad Recordings, with his friend and fellow producer Salem Jabou, in 2017. The year 2018 was for “Dawan” an exceptional year with the release of his first album "Lea" He is currently working on the launch of a label with a group of independent artists, in addition to various solo and group projects.
At an early stage, Emine fell for and in electronic music. his infatuation grew stronger and led to the revelation that was for him all the house music emerging from Chicago, detroit and New York. In 2012 he took the natural step to start his own label and one of the first labels of the genre in Tunisia. Now, the label collaorates with 50 and issued more than a 100 releases. Emine whose name is familiar to all of those who witnessed the rise of House Music and Techno scene in Tunisia. A master of his craft, his style is both a beautiful and strong blend between Chicago's eclectic vibe and Detroit's revolutionary spirit.
Born in the heart of Tunis, Hamdi Toukabri, AKA Hamdi RydEr, has quickly established himself as one of the most important and influential artists in the local underground scene. Hamdi’s passion for all things underground would eventually drive him to create a platform for other like-minded artists to express themselves. The result: Downtown Vibes (DV) a local collective established by himself and a group of close friends. Its mission: organize underground events, provide a stage for Tunisian talent, and maintain a well-structured community for arts and urban culture. Currently, DV hosts 2 regular events: “Secret Vibes” and “Somewhere in Downtown". Always located in secret venues, the parties host local and international DJs, VJs, artists and dancers to create the perfect underground vibe.
For this album they are all determined to use their skills and their idiosyncrasies as a "dynamo of the creative act" .
With this collaboration the three artists are hoping to induce a sense of connectedness and proximity despite the distance and they also want to encourage more electronic musicians to perceive their activity as part of the contemporary art practices. Throughout the month in which they will produce the album, parts of the process wil be filmed to make a mini film that will add to the vicinity they would love to estabilish with audiences. They are hoping to officially launch the album at the B7L9 and use the foundation's digital platforms and theirs to stream it live and to present a number of online workshops.
