Presentation of the project :
The Tunisian citizen is going through a keen sense of alienation stemming from the general quarantine reigning over the country. Despite being completely surrounded by all means of audio-visual entertainment, such as TV, computers, smartphones, being removed from movie theatres and halls, and incapable of savouring artistic shows, have incurred an acute sense of void on art lovers.
Accordingly, we thought of this project, which is a mapping video, to be displayed on buildings from 7 to 10 pm. This would enable citizens to enjoy shows, from the comfort and safety of their balconies or windows; this can be an effective alternative form of art for some and a discovery of new potential in audio-visual shows for others. The presentation is a 3-minute show to be projected in a continuous loop on a building wall, bearing in mind that the audience can reach more than one thousand, given the strategic place facing several other buildings. In this presentation, we tried to develop new mechanisms of artistic creativity using modern techniques and promoting them in innovative ways, appropriate to the general quarantine. Our project consists in displaying a video mapping on buildings in a fun way that draws on the architectural features by dint of various colours and shapes, connotative of continuity of life and bestowing delight in the hearts of spectators, be it adults or children. The show will be displayed over many building facades using 4 video devices (Lumens 5500) and (Lumens 12000); they will be in sync with each other along with the accompanying music. With this project, we will seek to develop new mechanisms of creativity by designing a great artistic show with high quality specifications similar to what we encounter in some of the major museums and exhibitions. Given this prevalent state of isolation, this can be seen as technical alternative for some of the public during this period. It will equally contribute to the development of our artistic practices in novel and digital ways and give room to the possibility of collective creativity from a distance, together with the establishment of a new and alternative audience, namely the audience of balconies and windows. Preparation of this show requires one to two weeks’ time, approximately. When presenting the video mapping, we will also film the show at the same time and broadcast it directly on social media pages and YouTube (Streaming) and allow for online interaction from web audience.
