Lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon.

Antar works with different photographic material, such as expired negatives defying the technological advances of digital photography, and collections of archival images. Focusing on the praxis behind the production and the visual quality of an image, his approach revolves around questioning the nature of the photographic medium, its constraints and limitations. The result is a visual practice deeply engaged with the historical and theoretical discourses of photography, rich in poetic beauty and conceptual complexity.

In 2001, he graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the American University of Beirut, he earned a diploma from École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Antar’s work has been exhibited in international institutions and biennials such as Palais du Tokyo, Paris, France / the Centre Pompidou, Paris, France / Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris, France / the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA / the New Museum, New York, USA / Sharjah Biennial, Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE.

Antar’s work forms part of many prestigious collections of art including Louis Vuitton Foundation, Paris, France / FNAC Centre (Fonds National d’Art Contemporain), France / Nadour Collection, Germany / The British Museum, London, UK and The Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Tunis, Tunisia.
