As part of the opening of "Life on the CAPS" by Moroccan artist Meriem Bennani, which highlights popular musical expressions in Morocco, we invite you to a musical evening inspired by authentic Tunisian Mizwid repertoire on Thursday, June 22nd at 8 pm in the B7L9 garden.
The show "Boumzioued" by Hatem Lajmi is a musical performance that celebrates sufi nûba-s from this repertoire.
Mizwid is a term that refers to both a single-reed aerophone similar to a bagpipe and a popular urban music genre. The Mizwid repertoire includes, in addition to a large collection of popular songs addressing various themes such as love, precarity, prison, etc., an important sacred-secular repertoire of nûba-s. This musical corpus consists of songs that praise the Prophet Mohammed and his companions, but most importantly, it venerates the saints revered in Tunisia. Each nûba is dedicated to a specific saint and bears their name. As examples, we mention the nûbat Sidi Abd al-Qâdir and the nûbat Sayda Mannûbiya.
