« Devant et dans le paysage, construction esthétique à travers une pratique personnelle. »
Presentation of the project
This project presents series of imaginary landscapes realized during the period of confinement and post-confinement. My intentions for this project reflect a confrontation between the poetics of the textile as a plastic material and the poetics of a natural space that is the landscape. The period of confinement allowed me to try other techniques of expression such as textiles as a tool and a work support: it is an economical process of creation and yet rich as a raw material. The texture, the weave, the physical aspect of any textile, old or new, can be used to realize an interior world represented by the evocation of the landscape. Each series suggests an opening towards a different mental landscape, lived through imagination and memories, of a confined dreamy imagery.

Asma Ben Aissa
Born in 1992 in Bizerte, Asma Ben Aissa is a painter by training and holds a master's degree in visual arts. She is currently a doctoral student in science and practice of arts at ISBAT.
Asma is interested in landscape as an aesthetic concept. She scans horizons through the materials she chooses in order to create fictitious and abstract expanses. Her work focuses on landscape and its representation because the experience of landscape is not just a description shaped through the eye; for her, landscape belongs to a variable reality that depends on the context in which it is imbued. The technicality of her work lies in the use of different fabrics that she chooses according to their lightness, thickness and shades of color. The elements omnipresent in her creative process redirect us towards a personal phantasmagorical jargon in which the simplicity of the material and the complexity of its use intertwine. Asma Ben Aissa gives us her own vision of the fluctuations of landscapes, fixed on supports by a reflected plastic contribution. Her work is a window that opens onto the world, literally and figuratively.
