Presentation of the project :
"Portrait de famille" is a story of looking. It is indeed the way we look at things that changes our perception. Forced to be separated during the confinement, we tried to translate our vision of the situation by shaking the dis- tances that had become timeless spaces. As a couple of artists, we tried to develop an articulation between our two practices; but we also wanted to include our children's view of this particular period in order to find ourselves together through this project, which was nevertheless initiated and carried out for the most part at a distance. Family Portrait is an open work, full of suggestions because it does not only speak about us as a family, but it also touches all those who have lived through the same situation. We all found ourselves trapped, hence the central idea of the figure of the box and the frame that delimits the work. As varied in the hand working in its execution as in its technique, this work is a stimulant of a collective memory coming back on a portrait out of the ordinary ...
SOFIA GUERFAL AND HELMI BOUTERAA
Sofia Guerfal is a visual artist, teacher at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Sousse, Sofia Guerfal is finishing a doctoral thesis in aesthetics and practical arts. Her work delves into the hidden dimension of things and the inner energy of what surrounds her. The resulting images are artistic metamorphoses that poetically explore the multiple creative possibilities.
Helmi Bouteraa obtained a master's degree in visual arts with a specialization in sculpture before turning to cinema by pursuing a master's and doctoral thesis in audiovisual and film sciences and techniques at Gammarth. In his practice, he mixes plastic vision with the pro-film approach, studying the semiological approach of plastic material in the profilic space.
