Tunis, 25 May 2016 – The current situation of the cultural sector in Tunisia, the role of culture as a vector for social and economic development in Tunisia and the promotion of the different views, experiences and propositions to boost development in this sector, were the issues raised in a round-table discussion entitled “Parlons Culture” (Let’s Speak Culture), organized on Tuesday evening in Tunis, at the initiative of The European Union National Institutes for Culture, (EUNIC), and chaired by the British Council.
Many cultural experiences and initiatives were exhibited on this occasion, including the KLF initiative, presented by Soumaya Gharsallah, the Foundation’s general manager.
The participants to this event called upon the revision of the legal and legislative framework for the various cultural spheres, in the public as well as the private sector. Some of the speakers criticized the cumbersome administrative procedures, in particular those regarding the formation of associations and the incentives for investment in the cultural sector.
